Juan Alberto Espil Vanotti[1] (born 5 January 1968) is a retired Argentine-Italian[2][3] professionalbasketball player, who played as ashooting guard-small forward.
Espil's last pro club wasBahía Basket (successor ofEstudiantes in the LNB), where he retired in 2012.[4]
In February 2013, Estudiantes honoured Espil by retiring the #10 jersey that he had worn during his two tenures on the club.[4][5]
Espil helped Argentina to claim the country's first ever gold medal in men's basketball at thePan American Games, as Argentina defeated theTeam USA, in the final of the1995 Pan American Games, inMar del Plata, Argentina.
Espil also competed with the senior men'sArgentine national basketball team at the1996 Summer Olympics inAtlanta, Georgia, where his team finished in ninth place in the overall standings.
