Joshua Alan Austin Newbury [ 1] Labour Party politician who has served asMember of Parliament (MP) forCannock Chase since 2024.[ 2]
Newbury was previously a primary carecommunications manager at NHS Birmingham and Solihull.[ 3] Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust , a stakeholder engagement manager atHealth Education England and a Senior Parliamentary officer at the Energy and Utilities alliance.[ 3]
Newbury was elected Councillor for the Norton Canes Ward onCannock Chase District Council in2019 ,[ 4] 2023 .[ 5] Parliament in July 2024.[ 6] [ 7] [ 8]
Newbury was selected as theLabour Party candidate forCannock Chase for the2024 general election ,[ 9] Keir Starmer visiting the constituency to promote Newbury's campaign on 2 July 2024 shortly before the election.[ 10] [ 11] Amanda Milling in the election and won 15,671 votes in the election, with a majority of 3,215.[ 12] [ 13]
He has described himself as a "proudgay man ".[ 14] [1] have a daughter.[ 7] International Men's Day in 2025 he revealed in the House of Commons that he was raped by another man nearly a decade ago. He shared the story to end the stigma around being a victim of sexual assault.[ 15] [ 16]
