Joseph Wirt Tillotson (January 30, 1905 – September 1, 1959) was an Americanpulppainter andillustrator who used the nameRobert Fuqua in his works.
Joseph Wirt Tillotson was born January 30, 1905, inGreenville, Mississippi, to parents William Wirt Tillotson and Belle Fuqua Oursler. Between 1938 and 1951, Tillotson painted an estimated 80 covers for the pulp magazineAmazing Stories.[1] Between 1949 and the late 1950s, he illustrated stories forOur Bible in Pictures published byDavid C. Cook.[2]
He married Marian Tillotson, a sociology professor at theUniversity of Chicago. They had no children. Tillotson died ofliver cancer on September 1, 1959.
