Jonathan Scarfe is a Canadian film and television actor, director, and producer.

Early life

He was born inToronto,Ontario,[1] to actorsAlan Scarfe andSara Botsford. He dropped out of high school at age 15, and at the age of 16 he spent a year working at theStratford Festival, where he learned about acting.[2]

Scarfe's first major role was on the Canadian teen dramaMadison.[2] He appears in a recurring role as Chase Carter, the drug-abusing cousin ofJohn Carter, on themedical-drama seriesER.[2] His television guest appearances include thepolice procedural seriesNYPD Blue,CSI: Miami,[2]Cold Case; and the drama seriesThe L Word,[2] as well as the supernatural drama seriesGrimm.[2]

Scarfe portraysSheldon Kennedy in thebiographical dramatelevision filmThe Sheldon Kennedy Story (1999), which follows the story of Kennedy – a former professional ice-hockey player with theCalgary Flames – who, after years of self-blame, self-guilt and secrecy, spoke out against his former coach and mentorGraham James and the sexual abuse Kennedy endured.[1] His other television films include the biographical drama television filmBurn: The Robert Wraight Story (2003), portrayingJesus in the biographical drama television filmJudas (2004).,[1] costarring withJennifer Finnigan in 2015 television filmAngel of Christmas andAlison Sweeney in theHallmark Channel movie "Love On The Air" 2015.

He appears as protagonist Nicholas Brady in the science-fiction filmRadio Free Albemuth (2009),[6] directed by John Alan Simon and based on thenovel of the same name (1985) byPhilip K. Dick. Scarfe appears asMormon prophetJoseph Smith in thehistorical-fiction drama filmThe Work and the Glory (2004).[2] Scarfe also appears in100 Days in the Jungle(2002), andWhite Lies (1998).[7]

Personal life

He is married to actress Suki Kaiser.[8] At one point Scarfe took a break from acting and spent two and half years sailing around the world with his family.[5]
