Jonas Poher Rasmussen (born 19 May 1981) is aDanish filmmaker. In 2021, he wrote and directed the animated documentaryFlee, that received three nominations for theBest Documentary Feature,Best International Film andBest Animated Feature at the94th Academy Awards.[1][2] From 2007 to 2010 Jonas attended the Danish independent film schoolSuper16.[3]
He is originally fromKalundborg.[4] He previously directed the short filmsEasa 2002: A Journey to Vis (2003),Something About Halfdan (2006),Closed Doors (2008),The Day After (2009) andHouse of Glass (2010), and the feature documentariesSearching for Bill (2012)[5] andWhat He Did (2015).[6]
The 2021animated documentary filmFlee tells the story of his friend Amin, anAfghan refugee in Denmark, and was one of the most highly acclaimed and award-winning films of 2021.[7]
FollowingFlee, Rasmussen signed withUnited Talent Agency andAnonymous Content to develop new projects.[8] His first announced new project is based on the graphic novels of Danish writerHalfdan Pisket [da].[9]
