Johnny Mythen (/ˈmaɪðən/) (born 1958/1959) is an IrishSinn Féin politician who has been aTeachta Dála (TD) for theWexford constituency since the2020 general election.[2]
He is a formerESB worker and trade union representative.[3] He was elected toWexford County Council in2014 for theEnniscorthy local electoral area, serving for five years before losing his seat. He previously contested the2016 general election in the Wexford constituency, but narrowly missed out on the last seat by a margin of 52 votes.[4] Mythen also contested the2019 Wexford by-election, receiving 4,125 votes (10.3%) and was eliminated on the third count.
At thegeneral election in February 2020, Mythen stood again in Wexford. He won 24.9% of thefirst preference votes and was elected on the first count.[5][6]
At the2024 general election, Mythen was re-elected to the Dáil.[7]
