John Rogers is an Americanscreenwriter. He is known as the creator of the television seriesJackie Chan Adventures (2000–2005),Leverage (2008–2012; 2021–present asLeverage: Redemption onFreevee),The Librarians (2014–2018), andThe Player (2015).
Rogers co-wrote the filmsAmerican Outlaws (2001),The Core (2003),Catwoman (2004), andMarry Me (2022), and co-wrote the story for the filmTransformers (2007).
Rogers was born inWorcester, Massachusetts, and attendedMcGill University inMontreal, Quebec. While at McGill, he wrote for the school's comedy magazineThe Red Herring.
Rogers wrote the first draft of the script for the live-action movieTransformers, released in2007.[1] He wrote an early screenplay forCatwoman and created thecartoon seriesJackie Chan Adventures. He also co-wrote the science fiction adventure filmThe Core. In 2004 Rogers wrote and executive-produced atelevision pilot based on thegraphic novelGlobal Frequency. Although the pilot was never aired onnetwork television, it was leaked onto theinternet and accrued an international fan base[citation needed]. He created and served as executive producer for the TNT television seriesLeverage, which ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2012.
In addition to his work in television and film, Rogers has also written for the comic book industry. In March 2006, he launched an ongoingDC Comics series starring the newBlue Beetle,Jaime Reyes, with co-plotterKeith Giffen and artistCully Hamner. Rogers stayed on the series for two years, until #25. Some of his earlier comics work was created forBoom! Studios, where he penned a number of short stories for genre-themed anthologiesZombie Tales (and its sequelsZombie Tales: Oblivion andZombie Tales: The Dead),Cthulhu Tales,Pirate Tales,Ninja Tales as well asWhat Were They Thinking?!, a series where contemporary writers wrote new humorous plots and dialogue over old stories. Rogers' last comics work to date is a fifteen-issueDungeons & Dragons series forIDW Publishing.[2]
Rogers has also worked onrole-playing games, and is the author ofFeywild chapter of the 4th editionDungeons & Dragons,Manual of the Planes (2008).[3]
