John Andreu Neeskens Ramírez (born November 17, 1993), known asJohn Neeskens, is an American professionalsoccer player who plays for Spanish clubEuropa as aleft-back.
Born inTulsa, Oklahoma, Neeskens began playing soccer with local PB Anguera andDamm, going on to have spells withVillarreal,Sant Andreu, andBadalona.[1][2] He moved to American clubColorado Rapids in 2014 and made his professional debut versusChicago Fire on June 5.[3]
He was released just before the start of the2015 Major League Soccer season.[4] On September 17, 2015, Neeskens signed with theNew York Cosmos'sB-team.[5]
Neeskens joinedLA Galaxy II on March 14, 2016.[6] After a short stay and limited minutes with LA Galaxy II, he joinedSegunda División B clubCF Gava on July 9, 2016.
Neeskens played for F.C. Santboià, starting with the 2017–18 season.
Before 2019–20 season, he joined former Slovak championsAS Trenčín. He only featured twice inleague play and once incup play. He scored a goal in his second league appearance againstSenica, utilizing a pass fromGino van Kessel. Trenčín lost the match 3–2.[7]
Media outlets often erroneously report that John Neeskens is the son of former Dutch internationalJohan Neeskens. In November 2010, Johan Neeskens stated via his personal website that John Neeskens was not his son.[8]
Through his birth and ancestry, he holds American, Spanish, and Dutch citizenship.[2]
