John Leslie (3 November 1814 – 4 November 1897) was anIrish first-classcricketer and barrister.
A younger son ofJohn Leslie senior,Bishop of Kilmore, Elphin and Ardagh and Isabella St. Lawrence[1] he was born atDromore in November 1814. He was educated in England atHarrow School,[2] before matriculating atChrist Church, Oxford in 1833.[3] While studying at Oxford, he playedfirst-class cricket on two occasions in 1836. The first of these came for theMarylebone Cricket Club (MCC) againstOxford University atOxford, while the second match camefor Oxford University against the MCC atLord's.[4] A student of bothKing's Inns inDublin and ofLincoln's Inn, he wascalled to the bar in 1840 and January 1841 respectively. He was latterly a member of theMiddle Temple.[1] Leslie died a day after his 83rd birthday in November 1897 atAlbury, Surrey.
