Johannette Zomer (born March 13, 1964)[1] is aDutch classical concert andoperasoprano.
After having worked as amicrobiology technician, Johannette Zomer shifted gears in 1990 and studied voice at theSweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam in Amsterdam withCharles van Tassel, where she received her Performance Diploma in 1997.[1]
As a Baroque specialist,[2] she has worked withFrans Brüggen,Reinhard Goebel,Philippe Herreweghe,René Jacobs,Sigiswald Kuijken,Paul McCreesh andJos van Veldhoven. She took part in the project ofTon Koopman to record the complete vocal works ofJohann Sebastian Bach with theAmsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir and is engaged also in the ongoing projectDieterich Buxtehude – Opera Omnia to record the complete works ofDieterich Buxtehude. She has also collaborated with the ensembleFlorilegium.[3]
As a recitalists she has performed with the pianistBart van de Roer [nl], thefortepiano specialistArthur Schoonderwoerd [nl] and thetheorbo player Fred Jacobs.
She has appeared on the opera stage since 1996 as Pamina in Mozart'sThe Magic Flute, as Euridice both in Monteverdi’sL'Orfeo and Haydn’sL'anima del filosofo, and as Mélisande in Debussy’sPelléas et Mélisande.[1]
In 2007 she performed at theTanglewood Festival Bach'sMass in B Minor with theNetherlands Bach Society, conducted byJos van Veldhoven.[4]
