Joel Vieira Pereira (born 28 September 1996) is a Portuguese professionalfootballer who plays as aright-back forEkstraklasa clubLech Poznań.
Pereira was born in the village ofPerosinho inVila Nova de Gaia,Porto District. He played youth football for four clubs, includingFC Porto from ages 11 to 17; he finished his development atVitória de Guimarães.[2]
On 16 September 2015, Pereira made his professional debut withVitória's reserves in theLigaPro, featuring the full 90 minutes in a 0–0 home draw againstAtlético Clube de Portugal.[3] In the 2017 Januarytransfer window he signed with fellow second-tier teamAcadémico de Viseu FC,[4] being voted the league's best right-back at the end of the2017–18 season alongsideFC Porto B'sDiogo Dalot.[5]
Subsequently, Pereira took his game to theCypriot First Division, first withDoxa Katokopias FC thenAC Omonia.[6] On 31 January 2020, the latter club loaned him toSlovak Super Liga'sFC Spartak Trnava on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy, being signed at the request of managerRicardo Chéu and reuniting with his former Doxa teammateBogdan Mitrea.[7]
Pereira was loaned toGil Vicente F.C. on 13 August 2020.[8] He made his debut in the PortuguesePrimeira Liga on 27 September, playing the entire 1–0 victory overPortimonense S.C. at theEstádio Cidade de Barcelos.[9]
On 31 May 2021, Pereira signed a four-year contract with Polish clubLech Poznań.[10] During his spell, he won twoEkstraklasa championships.[11][12]
