Joel Pearce Heyman (born September 16, 1971) is an American actor, best known for voicingMichael J. Caboose in theRooster Teeth web seriesRed vs. Blue from 2003 until 2020. He co-founded Rooster Teeth withBurnie Burns,Matt Hullum,Geoff Ramsey andGus Sorola and has appeared in their other projects, includingThe Strangerhood (2004–2006, 2015),The Gauntlet (2012) andRWBY (2013–2020).
Heyman's credited roles includePrivate Michael J. Caboose and O'Malley in the popularRooster Teeth web seriesRed vs. Blue,Wade inThe Strangerhood and Bartholomew Oobleck inRWBY. In addition to his involvement inmachinima, he starred inThe Schedule, a live-action film written and directed byBurnie Burns, the creator ofRed vs. Blue, and has also appeared on shows such asFriends,Angel,The Inside andAlias. He has reprised hisRed vs. Blue role as a Blue Prison Guard in theG4 showCode Monkeys and had a minor role inHalo 3 as a UNSC Marine. He was also a recurring member ofThe Rooster Teeth Podcast (previouslyThe Drunk Tank) and hosted a series of Rooster Teeth gaming videos calledHow To, where he and fellow employee Adam Ellis play various video games while under the effects of alcohol. He had a cameo role in the filmLazer Team, playing a news reporter.
On June 1, 2020, Joel replied to a user on Twitter that he had been "laid off" by Rooster Teeth for personal reasons with the company.[1][2]
Heyman is a graduate of theUniversity of Texas at Austin, where he received aBachelor of Fine Arts degree in drama production.[3] He has recently moved back toLos Angeles, California, where he lived during the first season ofRed vs. Blue.

Three of the five founders: Burnie Burns, Matt Hullum, and Joel Heyman, had their beginnings on our own University of Texas campus. Burns was studying for a B.A. in computer science, Hullum for a B.S. in film, and Heyman for a B.F.A in drama production.
