Joel Fry is a British actor and musician. On television, he is known for his roles in the BBC seriesWhite Van Man (2011–2012),Twenty Twelve (2012) andW1A (2014–2017); the sitcomsTrollied (2011–2013) andPlebs (2013–2016) onSky One andITV; and theHBO seriesGame of Thrones (2014–2015) andOur Flag Means Death (2022–2023). His films include10,000 BC (2008),Yesterday (2019), andBank of Dave (2023).
From London, Fry studied acting at theRoyal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating with a BA in Acting degree in 2005.[1]
On television, he is known for portraying the charactersHizdahr zo Loraq in the seriesGame of Thrones[2][3] and Frenchie inOur Flag Means Death. Further television credits includeWhite Van Man,Trollied,Plebs,[4]Twenty Twelve, andW1A. In film, he appeared as Lu'kibu in10,000 BC,[4] Rocky in the 2019romantic comedy filmYesterday, and Jasper Badun in the 2021 crime comedy-dramaCruella.[5]
In 2023, Fry starred in a main role as 'Hugh', the solicitor to Burnley banker Dave Fishwick (played byRory Kinnear) in the filmBank of Dave, released onNetflix in January 2023.[6]
Fry is a former member of the band Animal Circus, which released the EPSnakes and Ladders in 2012,[7] and is featured in two songs on the 2022Our Flag Means Death soundtrack, where he performs as his character, Frenchie.[8]
