Joe Tryon-Shoyinka (born April 30, 1999) is an American professionalfootballdefensive end for theChicago Bears of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theWashington Huskies and was selected by theTampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the2021 NFL draft.
Tryon-Shoyinka was born inSeattle and grew up in nearbyRenton, Washington and attendedHazen High School, where he played baseball, basketball and football.[1] As a senior, he was named regional defensive lineman of the year byThe Seattle Times. A 3-star defensive end recruit, Tryon-Shoyinka originally committed to playcollege football atWashington State but changed it to attend theUniversity of Washington over offers fromEastern Washington,Oregon, andUtah.[2][3]
Tryon-Shoyinkaredshirted his true freshman season at the University of Washington.[4] As a redshirt freshman, he played in 12 games with 20 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack.[5][6] Tryon-Shoyinka made 41 tackles with 12.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks in his redshirt sophomore season and was named second-teamAll-Pac-12 Conference.[7][8] Following the Pac-12's original announcement that they would postpone the 2020 season due to theCOVID-19 pandemic, Tryon-Shoyinka announced that he would prepare for the2021 NFL draft.[9]

Tryon-Shoyinka was selected in the first round (32nd overall) of the 2021 NFL draft by the defendingSuper Bowl championTampa Bay Buccaneers.[12] He signed his four-year rookie contract, worth $11 million, on June 22, 2021.[13]
On April 30, 2024, the Buccaneers declined the fifth-year option on Tryon-Shoyinka's contract, making him a free agent after the 2024 season.[14]
On March 12, 2025, Tryon-Shoyinka agreed to terms with theCleveland Browns on a one-year, $4.75 million contract.[15][16] He made eight appearances for Cleveland, recording nine combined tackles.
On November 4, 2025, Tryon-Shoyinka was traded along with a seventh-round pick in 2026 to theChicago Bears in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2026.[17]
