John Douglas Hutton (29 October 1898 – 2 January 1970) was a Scottishfootballer who played as aright back forAberdeen andBlackburn Rovers, and represented theScotland national team in ten official internationals between 1923 and 1928.
Hutton signed forAberdeen after theFirst World War in 1919 and made his debut for theDons in the same year;[1][2] originally played atinside forward but switched to full-back. In the 1920s, he was Aberdeen's most-capped player with seven of his ten caps coming while he played for the club.
In October 1926, he joined English clubBlackburn Rovers for a then-record £6,000 transfer fee.[1] Hutton won anFA Cup winner's medal in 1928, when Blackburn beatHuddersfield Town 3–1 atWembley.[3]
Hutton won ten caps for theScotland national football team and scored one goal, from apenalty kick in a 2–2 draw againstWales in the1928 British Home Championship.[4][5] He also represented theScottish League XI four times.[6]
Hutton managed Belfast clubLinfield during the 1940s. During his time in charge, Hutton signedTommy Dickson for Linfield.[7]
