Joanne Lunn (born 1973)[1] is anEnglish classicalsoprano in opera and concert.
Joanne Lunn studied atRoyal College of Music, where she graduated and received the Tagore Gold Medal.
Lunn performed in Monteverdi'sL'incoronazione di Poppea, Gluck's operasOrfeo ed Euridice andAlceste, and in Verdi'sFalstaff. In 2004 she appeared as Helena in Benjamin Britten'sA Midsummer Night's Dream, conducted byJohn Eliot Gardiner and directed byDavid Pountney. She performed in Monteverdi'sOrfeo, conducted byPhilip Pickett, in Paris and for the Beijing International Music Festival.
In 2000 she took part in theBach Cantata Pilgrimage with theMonteverdi Choir conducted by John Eliot Gardiner, a project which performed and recorded the completechurch cantatas of Bach.Her recordings of Bach cantatas with John Eliot Gardiner and the Monteverdi Choir includeHerr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir, BWV 73, for the Third Sunday afterEpiphany.[2]She has also recorded Bach cantatas with theBach Collegium Japan.
For Bach'smotets, she collaborated in 2003 with theHilliard Ensemble.[3] She performed Bach'sSt Matthew Passion with theOrchestra of the Age of Enlightenment andRoger Norrington, also withFrieder Bernius, theRotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and with theLondon Symphony Orchestra at theBarbican Hall. She recorded the work withPhilippe Herreweghe. She recorded Bach'sMass in B minor with bothJürgen Budday and theMaulbronn Chamber Choir, andMarc Minkowski andLes Musiciens du Louvre. In 2010 she performed the work in St. David's Hall,Cardiff, withElin Manahan Thomas,Robin Blaze,Toby Spence,Peter Harvey, theBBC National Chorus and Orchestra of Wales, conducted byThierry Fischer.[4]
Lunn recorded John Rutter'sMass of the Children with theCity of London Sinfonia, conducted by the composer, and performed the work both atSt Paul's Cathedral and at theSymphony Hall, Birmingham.
