João Paulo Santos da Costa (born 2 February 1996), sometimes known asAndorinha,[2] is a Portuguese professionalfootballer who plays as agoalkeeper forPrimeira Liga clubPorto.

Club career

Born inBarcelos,Braga District, Costa joinedFC Porto's youth system at the age of 10.[3] On 3 October 2015, he made his debut as a senior withthe reserves, in a 2–0 away win againstS.C. Olhanense in theLigaPro.[4] He added a further six appearances duringthe season, as they achieved the feat of being the first B team to win the championship.[5][6]

On 11 September 2016, in the94th minute of the league fixture againstF.C. Penafiel, Costa scored to help the hosts to earn one point after the 2–2 draw.[7] On 29 November, he remained onthe bench for the first team during a 0–0 home draw withC.F. Belenenses in thegroup stage of theTaça da Liga.[8]

Costa went on to serve two loans subsequently, his first being withGil Vicente F.C. still in the second tier.[9] Afterwards, he joined SpanishSegunda División B clubFC Cartagena.[10]

On 14 August 2019, Costa signed a permanent one-year deal withCD Mirandés,newly promoted toSegunda División.[11] He played twoextra-time away wins in theCopa del Rey, and his sole league appearance was a 4–0 loss atRacing de Santander on 17 September.[12] Following the arrival ofRaúl Lizoain, he left on 27 January 2020 and moved toClub Recreativo Granada on an 18-month deal.[13]

Initially a part of thefirst team for the 2021 pre-season, Costa spent the2021–22 campaign unregistered by both the main and reserve squads as he was already 25.[14] In August 2022, he joinedReal Murcia CF ofPrimera Federación.[15]

Costa returned to Portugal on 16 August 2023, on a contract at second-tier clubC.D. Feirense.[16] In January 2025, he signed a three-and-a-half-year deal atC.F. Estrela da Amadora.[17] HisPrimeira Liga bow took place on 9 February, in the 1–0 defeat away toCasa Pia AC.[18]

On 9 July 2025, Costa returned to Porto by agreeing to a contract until June 2030.[19]
