Jimmy Jowett was an Englishgreyhound trainer. He was the British champion trainer.[1]
Jowett's first success was the 1939 Metropolitan Cup.[1] Before theWar he was a private trainer before taking up a position atBelle Vue Stadium in 1946. He soon returned to private training in 1947 and was based atGrappenhall inWarrington.[2]
In 1950 he won theScottish Greyhound Derby and one year later he joinedClapton Stadium Ltd and trained atWarrington where he quickly established himself as the leading trainer.[1] After this spell at Warrington, he joined Clapton in 1952 and was based at theHook Estate and Kennels,Northaw. He won theScurry Gold Cup four times, twice with Gorey Airways.
Jowett retired one year before Clapton closed in 1974.[3]
Jowett was the winner of theGreyhound Trainer of the Year in 1961.[4]
