James Joseph Nealon (December 15, 1884 – April 2, 1910) was a professionalbaseball player. He was born inSan Francisco, and died inSan Francisco, at the age of 25.
He was afirst baseman over parts of 2 seasons (1906–1907) with thePittsburgh Pirates. In his rookie season in 1906, he tied for theNational League lead inRBIs with 83 withHarry Steinfeldt. The next year, he contractedtuberculosis, ending his baseball career.[1] He subsequently died oftyphoidpneumonia at the age of 25.[1]
In 259 games over two seasons, Nealon posted a .256batting average (240-for-937) with 111runs, 31doubles, 20triples, 3home runs, 130RBI, 26stolen bases and 76bases on balls. Defensively, he recorded a .983fielding percentage as a first baseman.
