Jim Hoskinson

American television director

Jim Hoskinson is an American television director. He currently directsThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert onCBS. He formerly directedThe Colbert Report, which aired onComedy Central andLast Week Tonight with John Oliver onHBO.[1] HostStephen Colbert often calls for him on-screen as "Jim" or "Jimmy" for minor assistance duringThe Late Show, which he had also done onThe Colbert Report.

Hoskinson is fromConnecticut.[2] He began his television career as a cable puller for aDisney show. He later went to work forCBS'sInside Edition whenBill O'Reilly wasanchor.[2] He then had a six-year directing stint atFox News.[2] Because of this experience, he was hired for the job onThe Colbert Report, which was heavily modeled onpundits like O'Reilly and networks like Fox.[2] In 2015 he became a director ofThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert onCBS, following Colbert, who had left Comedy Central in 2014.

Hoskinson has been nominated for sevenEmmy Awards and oneDirectors Guild of America award.[2] He won thePrimetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series in 2025.
