Folk dance of East India
This article is about a folk dance of east India. For its eponymous music, seeJhumar song. For other uses, seeJhumair (disambiguation).

Jhumair orJhumar is an Indian folk dance from theIndian states ofJharkhand,Odisha,Chhattisgarh,Assam,Bihar andWest Bengal.[1][2][3][4] It is folk dance ofSadan, the Indo-Aryan ethnic groups ofChotanagpur.[5][6][7] It is also performed by Adivasi communities and is mainly performed during harvest season.[8] The musical instruments used areMandar,Dhol,Nagara,Bansuri.[5] This dance style consists of performers standing in a row holding hands, singings couplets, swaying their bodies, clapping their hands and occasionally adding timed jumps.[9]
