Jhajjar is a town inJhajjar district in the Indianstate ofHaryana. It is a part of Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) and situated on the road connecting Rewari to Rohtak (NH-352), Loharu to Meerut (NH334B), Charkhi Dadri to Delhi and Gurgaon to Bhiwani. Jhajjar is located 55 km (34 mi) west ofDelhi.[3]
Jhajjar is listed in theAin-i-Akbari as apargana under Delhisarkar, producing a revenue of 1,422,451dams for the imperial treasury and supplying a force of 1000 infantry and 60 cavalry.[4] Jhajjar was founded by a GahlawatJat, Chaudhary Chajju Singh in medieval era.[5]
According to2011 Indian census, Jhajjar town had a total population of 48424, of which 25678 were males and 22746 were females.[1]

Geeta Bhukkal from theIndian National Congress (INC) is the current MLA of Jhajjar.[8]
Jhajjar has its ownrailway station, with code JHJ. The railway station of the city is situated on Delhi-Jhajjar-Dadri Road. The station supports four trains, including thefirst CNG train of India and theJaipur-Chandigarh Intercity train.[citation needed]
