Jet City Roller Derby (JCRD) is a women's flat trackroller derby league based inEverett, Washington. Founded in 2006, Jet City is a member of theWomen's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).[1]

History

[edit]

Jet City was founded asJet City Rollergirls in July 2006 by four friends,[2][3] who were inspired after watching theRat City Rollergirls,[4] who held an exhibition game at theEverett Events Center in March of that year in front of 5000 people.[5] By mid-2007, when they held their first exhibition bout,[6] they already had around 60 skaters.[2] They played their first full season in 2008,[6] and became a full member of theWomen's Flat Track Derby Association the following year.[7]

The league initially played in a 900-seat venue atEverett Community College, but moved to its larger 2,000-seat venue in 2011, which they regularly sold out.[8] As of 2017, Jet City hosted games at Shoreline Derby Center inShoreline[9] and the league consisted of four home teams, as well as an all-star team which competed against teams from other leagues in WFTDA competition.

In January 2018, the league announced it was rebranding as Jet City Roller Derby, and coalescing its home teams into two B teams.[10]
