Urshell James "Jesse"Whittenton (May 9, 1934 – May 21, 2012)[1] was an American professionalfootball player who was acornerback for nine seasons in theNational Football League (NFL), primarily for theGreen Bay Packers. He was inducted into theGreen Bay Packers Hall of Fame.[2] He playedcollege football for theTexas Western Miners (now UTEP Miners).

Whittenton also played golf on theSenior PGA Tour in the late 1980s. His best finish was T-21 at the 1989Showdown Classic.

Whittenton is one of at least 345NFL players to be diagnosed after death with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), which is caused by repeated hits to the head.[3][4]
