José Jesús Perera López (born 12 April 1980) is a Spanish formerfootballer who played as astriker.
He played 186Segunda División games over eight seasons, totalling 60 goals forMallorca B,Albacete,Celta,Rayo Vallecano andElche. He added in 66 matches and 12 goals inLa Liga, in an 18-year professional career.
Perera was born inOlivenza,Province of Badajoz. A prolific scorer in theSegunda División, notably scoring 22 league goals forAlbacete Balompié in the2002–03 season,[1] he struggled to maintain the same rate in the top division in his fourLa Liga campaigns (two with bothRCD Mallorca andRC Celta de Vigo).[2] His best input came in2003–04, as he netted six times for theBalearic Islands club.[3]
In2007–08, Perera scored 14 goals for aGalician squad that failed to return to the top flight.[4] He would immediately change teams again, joiningRayo Vallecano.[5] Rarely used duringthe campaign, he was loaned in July 2009 two another side in that league,Elche CF, in aseason-long move;[6] the deal was made permanent in August 2010.[7]
In July 2011, Perera signed forCD Atlético Baleares ofSegunda División B.[8] In hisonly full season he netted 23 goals in 32 matches, but his team failed to promote.[9]
Perera joined fellow third-tierGimnàstic de Tarragona in January 2013.[10] After one and a half years inCatalonia, he left as his contract expired.[11]
On 29 August 2014, Perera agreed to a deal atMérida AD in theTercera División.[12] He was top scorer with 23 goals in hisfirst season as they won promotion, but retired at the age of 36 at the conclusion ofthe following campaign, in which he was troubled by a knee injury.[13]
