Jerrold Peter Scattini (born January 30, 1941) is an American formercollege football coach. He served as the head coach at theUniversity of Nevada, Reno from 1969 to 1975. He amassed a 37–36–1 record during his tenure.
Scattini attended theUniversity of California, Berkeley, where he played on thefootball team from 1959 to 1961 as ahalfback.[1] In 1960,The Los Angeles Times characterized Scattini as California's best runner.[2] That same season,The Baltimore Sun noted that all three California halfbacks "are good-size but lack breakaway speed" and quoted coachMarv Levy as saying that the offense centered on thequarterback.[3]
After college, theGreen Bay Packers of theNational Football League selected Scattini in the 19th round of the1962 NFL draft as the 266th overall pick.[4]
TheUniversity of Nevada, Reno hired Scattini as its head football coach, a position he held from 1969 to 1975. His teams compiled a 37–36–1 record.[5] Scattini was fired in December 1975 after a 3–8 season and was replaced withUNLV assistantChris Ault.[6] After football, Scattini entered business infinance.[7]
