TheJerry Rice Award is awarded annually in the United States to the most outstanding freshman player in theNCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) ofcollege football as chosen by a nationwide panel of media and college sports information directors.^[1] The trophy is named in honor of formerNational Football League (NFL) wide receiverJerry Rice, who played college football for theMississippi Valley State Delta Devils.
