Jerome Murphy (born January 13, 1987) is an American former professionalfootball player who was acornerback in theNational Football League (NFL). He was selected by theSt. Louis Rams in the third round of the2010 NFL draft. He playedcollege football for theSouth Florida Bulls.
He was also a member of theNew Orleans Saints,Detroit Lions,Washington Redskins, andDenver Broncos.
Murphy attendedElizabeth High School. He played defensive back andwide receiver. As a senior, he had 89tackles and eightinterceptions on defense and 582 receiving yards with seventouchdowns on offense.
Murphy attended theUniversity of South Florida from 2005 to 2009. As a senior, he was a first-team all-Big East selection byPhil Steele. During his career he started 25 of 51 games, recording 178 tackles, eight interceptions, and two forcedfumbles.

Murphy was selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams with the 65th overall pick.[3] He was placed oninjured reserve on August 31, 2011.
Murphy was waived by the Rams on September 1, 2012 and claimed byNew Orleans Saints the next day.[4] He was waived on September 17.
On September 18, he was claimed off waivers by theDetroit Lions.[5]
On November 19, 2012, he was signed by theWashington Redskins.[6] Murphy was waived on November 26, 2013.[7]
Murphy, along with seven other players, were signed to future contracts with theDenver Broncos on January 22, 2014.[8] He was released on August 30 for final roster cuts before the start of the2014 season.[9]
