Jenette Elise Goldstein (born February 4, 1960) is an American actress. Known for her collaborations with directorJames Cameron,[2] she won aSaturn Award for her portrayal ofPrivate Vasquez in his 1986 sci-fi horror film,Aliens. She reteamed with Cameron to play Janelle Voight inTerminator 2 (1991) and a small part inTitanic (1997). Her other notable film appearances include Diamondback inNear Dark (1987) and Meagan Shapiro inLethal Weapon 2 (1989), alongsidecameos inStar Trek Generations (1994) andFear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). On television, Goldstein has played guest roles on series such asER,Six Feet Under,24, andStar Trek: Short Treks.

Early life

Goldstein was born inLos Angeles,California, and raised inBeverly Hills.[citation needed] Her family is from Brazil and Morocco.[3] She is Jewish.[2] Goldstein trained to be a gymnast before she started her acting career.[4]

Career

Goldstein's first film role was inJames Cameron'sAliens (1986), where she playedPrivate Vasquez. The performance won her theSaturn Award for Best Supporting Actress the following year.[5] She next appeared as Diamondback, a mysterious vampire, inKathryn Bigelow's neo-Western horror filmNear Dark (1987), receiving her second Saturn Award nomination for the role. She ended the decade with parts inThe Presidio,Miracle Mile (both 1988), andLethal Weapon 2 (1989).

Goldstein played Janelle Voight, the foster mother ofJohn Connor, in James Cameron's big-budget sci-fi action filmTerminator 2: Judgment Day, which broke box office records upon its release in 1991.[6] Next, she madecameos as aUSS Enterprise science officer inStar Trek Generations (1994), an Irish immigrant mother inTitanic (1997)—her third collaboration with Cameron—and a hotel maid inFear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). Her other notable film roles during the 1990s were supporting parts inFair Game (1995) andLiving Out Loud (1998). Goldstein's television work includes guest appearances inMacGyver,L.A. Law,ER,Six Feet Under,Alias, and24.

Goldstein is the owner of thechain store company Jenette Bras,[7] a large-cup bra specialist known for its slogan, "The alphabet starts at 'D'".[5][8][9]
