Jelko Kacin (born 26 November 1955) is a Slovenian politician.

Biography

During theSlovenian Independence War, he was the Secretary of Information of Slovenia. He founded theSlovenian Press Agency on 3 June 1991 and the war (also called the Ten-Day War) started on 27 June 1991. He is the former president of theLiberal Democracy of Slovenia and member of the bureau of theAlliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, who sat on theEuropean Parliament'sCommittee on Foreign Affairs.

A formerMember of the European Parliament, Kacin was also a substitute for theCommittee on Transport and Tourism, vice-chair of the delegation to theEUMoldova Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, a substitute for the delegation tothe former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia–EU Joint Parliamentary Committee, and for the delegations for relations withIran, theKorean Peninsula, and the countries of south-east Europe.
