Jeff Bridges (born August 9)[1] is an American politician serving as a member of theColorado Senate from the 26th district. Located inArapahoe County, the district includes parts of Aurora, Englewood, Sheridan, Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village, and Littleton. Bridges previously served on the Senate Education Committee and Senate Local Government Committee. He currently serves as the Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and sits on the Joint Budget Committee and the Legislative Interim Committee on School Finance.[2]

Early life and education

Bridges grew up inColorado and graduated fromArapahoe High School inCentennial. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science fromKenyon College and aMaster of Divinity fromHarvard Divinity School.[3][4]

Career

Before running for the Colorado House of Representatives, Bridges worked for U.S SenatorKen Salazar. He also worked as the associate vice president of public affairs of theUnion Theological Seminary.[5]  

Bridges was first elected to theColorado House of Representatives in 2016, representing District 3. He was re-elected to the seat in 2018. In 2019, a vacancy committee elected Bridges to State Senator for District 26, after the resignation of Daniel Kagan.[citation needed]

Bridges currently serves as the chairman of the Joint Budget Committee, the committee responsible for drafting the state budget.[6]

In April 2025, Bridges announced his candidacy forColorado State Treasurer.[7]
