Jed Ethan Patrick Harper-Penman (born 1 February 1994) is an Englishfootballer who plays forTorrington F.C. as awinger.[2]

Playing career

Harper-Penman began his career with local sideBarnstaple Town, playing in their youth team.[3] He attended training sessions inChivenor with thePlymouth Argyle Development Centre before joining the club's Centre of Excellence in 2008 on a two-year contract.[3] Having progressed to the club's youth team, he signed a two-year professional apprenticeship which began in July 2010.[1][4] He was promoted to thefirst team squad in April 2011, along with Jake Baker, after impressing managerPeter Reid while playing for the reserve side.[5][6] "It's all experience for them being with the first team, and you can't buy that," said Reid.[5] He made his debut on 5 April 2011 in a 2–0 defeat atLeyton Orient, replacingJoe Mason as a second-half substitute.[7][8] Harper-Penman signed his first professional contract in July 2012.[9]

He joinedSouthern League Premier Division sideBideford on loan for three months on 4 August.[10][11] Harper-Penman returned to Argyle at the end of the loan and was released when his contract expired in December.[12] He rejoinedWestern League Premier Division club Barnstaple Town in January 2013,[13][14] and scored three goals in his first two appearances.[15][16] He moved toFrome Town in March until the end of the season,[17][18] and played in three games.[19] Harper-Penman joined Southern League Premier Division sideTruro City in August, having spent time on trial there in pre-season,[20] and made one appearance later that month.[21] He returned to Barnstaple in September and scored in his first game.[22][23]

Personal life

Harper-Penman was born inBarnstaple,[citation needed] and has an older brother called Aaron, who has playednon-League football as adefender.[11] He attendedPilton Community College inBarnstaple in his youth.[3][6]
