Malachi Jeffers (born April 29, 2004) is an Americanprofessional wrestler. He is signed toWWE, where he performs under thering nameJe'Von Evans on theRawbrand and on sister promotionLucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). He previously wrestled under the ring nameJay Malachi on theindependent circuit, including forDeadlock Pro-Wrestling (DPW), where he won theDPW Worlds Championship.

Early life

Malachi Jeffers was born inGreensboro, North Carolina.[4][5] He attended the College Prep and Leadership Academy inJamestown, where he played basketball and graduated in 2022.[6][7]

Professional wrestling career

Early career (2018–2023)

Jeffers began training for a professional wrestling career under LaBron Kozone at the Fire Star Pro Wrestling (FSPW) Academy, becoming the youngest graduate at age 14.[2] He made his in-ring debut in atag team match on January 26, 2018, under thering nameKid Blacka Merica, teaming with Captain Blacka Merica to defeat Kevin Ramage and Ty Land.[3] In January 2019, he changed his ring name toJay Malachi and formed atag team withJackson Drake known as the Wrestling Prodigies.[8] During his tenure with FSPW, he held the FSPW Heavyweight Championship, FSPW South Eastern Championship, and the FSPW Tag Team Championship.[2] He also wrestled regularly for the Premier Wrestling Federation (PWF), where he and Drake held the PWF Tag Team Championship twice in 2021.[9]

AtGame Changer Wrestling (GCW)'s For the Culture 4 event on March 30, 2023, Malachi teamed withA.C. Mack, J.C. Storm, Jeffrey John and Suge D as part of The World, losing to West Coast (Alpha Zo, G. Sharpe,Kenny King, Mazzerati and Midas Kreed).[10] On July 1, he defeated Drake to become the number one contender for the PWF Undisputed Championship.[11] On August 10 and 11, he took part in West Coast Pro Wrestling (WCPW)'s West Coast Cup tournament, defeating Viento in the first round, before losing to Starboy Charlie in the quarterfinals.[12][13] On October 22, he failed to win the PWF Undisputed Championship from Bojack.[14]

Deadlock Pro-Wrestling (2022–2023)

Malachi made his debut forDeadlock Pro-Wrestling (DPW) on March 12, 2022.[15] He unsuccessfully challenged Bojack for theDPW Worlds Championship on September 24.[16] On April 16, 2023, he defeatedAlec Price and Drake in atriple threat match for the Golden Opportunity, granting him a future match for the title.[17] On September 17, Malachi defeatedJake Something,Mike Bailey andTom Lawlor in afatal four-way match to win the Carolina Classic, and then defeated Lucky Ali in aCarolina Warfare match to win the DPW Worlds Championship.[18] After successfully defending the title againstJordan Oliver on October 15 and Price on November 12,[19][20] he vacated it on November 18 upon signing withWWE.[21]

All Elite Wrestling (2022, 2023)

On August 21, 2022, Malachi made hisAll Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut in a match taped forAEW Dark, where he lost toFuego Del Sol.[22] He returned on January 28, 2023, teaming with Oliver Sawyer in a loss to the WorkHorseMen (Anthony Henry and JD Drake).[23] In his last appearance, on February 26, Malachi, Sawyer andJackson Drake lost toJay Lethal,Jeff Jarrett andSatnam Singh in asix-man tag team match.[24]

NXT (2023–2025)

Prior to signing with the company, Jeffers participated in aWWE tryout in September 2023.[25] On November 14, he was reported to have signed with WWE and was assigned to theNXTbrand under the ring nameJe'Von Evans.[26][27] After working onhouse shows andLevel Up,[28][29] he made his debut on the April 9, 2024 episode ofNXT, defeatingScrypts.[30] The following week, he lost to then-NXT ChampionIlja Dragunov, but was endorsed by Dragunov after the match, as the two shook hands.[31] On the June 18 episode ofNXT, Evans won a 25-manbattle royal for an NXT Championship match againstTrick Williams atNXT Heatwave on July 7.[32] However, the match turned into a fatal-four way match involvingEthan Page andShawn Spears, which Evans lost.[33] AtNXT Deadline on December 7, he participated in theMen's Iron Survivor Challenge, which was won byOba Femi.[34]

Heading into 2025, Evans feuded with Page,[35] whom he lost to atNXT Vengeance Day on February 15,[36] but defeated in aNew York City street fight atNXT: Roadblock on March 11.[37] He then unsuccessfully challenged for the NXT Championship in a triple threat match on April 19 atNXT Stand & Deliver and theNXT North American Championship in a fatal four-way match on June 7 atWorlds Collide.[38][39] He also appeared on the May 30 episode ofSmackDown, teaming withRey Fénix in a loss toLegado Del Fantasma's Los Garza (Angel andBerto).[40] After defeatingJasper Troy atNXT The Great American Bash on July 12,[41] Evans defeated Williams to become the number one contender for the NXT Championship atNXT Heatwave on August 24,[42] but lost to Femi.[43] On the September 26 episode ofSmackDown, Evans answeredSami Zayn'sUnited States Championship open challenge in a losing effort.[44] One day later, on September 27 atNXT No Mercy, Evans defeatedJosh Briggs.[45] He then began teaming withTNA X Division ChampionLeon Slater, defeatingLucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA)’sMr. Iguana and La Parka atNXT Halloween Havoc on October 26.[46] They failed to win theNXT Tag Team Championship fromDarkState (Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin) at Week 1 ofNXT: Gold Rush on November 18.[47] AtNXT Deadline on December 6,John Cena selected Evans as one of the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge participants, where Evans won the match to earn an NXT Championship match against Femi atNXT: New Year's Evil.[48] On the following episode ofNXT, Evans demanded his title match immediately, but lost after interference fromRicky Saints.[49] AtSaturday Night's Main Event XLII on December 13, Evans and Slater were selected by Cena in his final event to faceWorld Tag Team ChampionsAJ Styles andDragon Lee in a non-title match, which they lost.[50] AtGuerra de Titanes on December 20, Evans facedLaredo Kid andJack Cartwheel in a triple threat match for theAAA World Cruiserweight Championship, after having previously won a contendership match againstAxiom andOctagon Jr. on November 22,[51] but failed to win the title.[52] On the December 30 episode ofNXT, Evans lost to Saints in his final match for NXT.[53]

Raw (2026–present)

AtRaw on Netflix Anniversary Show on January 5, 2026, Evans officially signed with theRaw brand.[54] Evans defeatedBravo Americano in his first match on the brand on the January 12 episode ofRaw.[55] On the following week, Evans lost toEl Grande Americano by referee's decision after sustaining an injury and was later medically cleared. On January 31 atRoyal Rumble, Evans made hismen's Royal Rumble match debut as the eight entrant lasting 41 minutes before being eliminated byRandy Orton.[56]

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2025)

AtTotal Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA)'sVictory Road event on September 26, 2025, it was announced that Evans would faceLeon Slater for theTNA X Division Championship on October 12 atBound for Glory,[57] but the match ended in ano contest afterDarkState (Dion Lennox, Cutler James,Saquon Shugars, and Osiris Griffin) attacked both Evans and Slater.[58]
