Jaysean Paige (born July 30, 1994) is a Puerto Rican professionalbasketball player for theMets de Guaynabo of theBaloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). He playedcollege basketball for theWest Virginia Mountaineers and previously played for theCollege of Southern Idaho andMoberly Area Community College.

High school career

Paige attendedJamestown High School inJamestown, New York, where he played football and basketball. He was named Western New York Player of the Year after leading Jamestown to a state runner-up finish as a junior. He averaged 27 points and eight rebounds per game that season. As a senior, he transferred to Perry County Central High School inHazard, Kentucky, where he posted averages of 21 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.[1]

College career

Paige attended theCollege of Southern Idaho as a freshman, where he averaged 13.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game.[1] He transferred toMoberly Area Community College as a sophomore, and averaged over 21 points and four rebounds per game. in May 2014, he signed with West Virginia to play underBob Huggins.[2] He had consideredSouthern Miss, but decided not to commit afterDonnie Tyndall was fired.[3] As a junior, he averaged 5.6 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, starting 10 games. His season-high 18 points came againstBaylor in the Big 12 Championship.[1]

Paige was the team'ssixth man as a senior, a role he relished. Against first-rankedKansas, Paige had 26 points, five steals and four rebounds as the Mountaineers upset the Jayhawks 74–63.[4] He scored a career-high 34 points in a 97–87 victory overIowa State on February 22.[5] Paige averaged 14.3 point per game in his senior season. He was named to the Second Team All-Big 12 and was the conference Sixth man Award honoree (unanimous selection).[6]

Oettinger Rockets Gotha (2016)

He went undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. He signed withOettinger Rockets Gotha of Germany'sPro A league on August 8, 2016.[7]

Karpoš Sokoli (2017)

On 26 November 2016, he signed withKarpoš Sokoli[8][9]

Newcastle Eagles (2017–2018)

On 8 August 2017 Paige signed for the seven-timeBritish Basketball League championsNewcastle Eagles. Paige made his debut for the Eagles on 29 September, scoring 30 points in a 148–60 victory.

Maine Red Claws (2019–2020)

For the 2019–20 season, Paige joined theMaine Red Claws of theNBA G League.[10] On February 11, 2020, he posted 27 points, five assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block in an overtime win over theFort Wayne Mad Ants.[11]

Maine Celtics (2021)

On October 23, 2021, Paige signed with theMaine Celtics.[12] He averaged 16.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals per game.

Detroit Pistons (2021–2022)

On December 31, 2021, Paige signed a 10-day contract with theDetroit Pistons via the hardship exemption.[13] He made his NBA debut on January 1.[14]

Return to Maine (2022)

On January 7, 2022, Paige was reacquired by theMaine Celtics.[15] However, he was waived on March 8 after suffering a season-ending injury.[15]

Plateros de Fresnillo (2023)

On August 5, 2023, Paige signed withPlateros de Fresnillo of the MexicanLNBP.[16][17]

Raptors 905 (2023–2024)

On October 30, 2023, Paige joinedRaptors 905.[18] However, he was waived on February 21, 2024.[19]

Return to Guaynabo (2024–present)

After being waived by the Raptors, Paige returned to theMets de Guaynabo.[20]

Personal life

Paige is the son of Lashawn Paige and Jessica Echevarria. He majored in multidisciplinary studies.[1]
