Jay Hoyland Arnette (born December 19, 1938[1]) is an American former professionalbasketball player. He playedcollege basketball for theTexas Longhorns.[2] Arnette played professionally for theCincinnati Royals of theNBA from 1963 to 1965.

A 6'2"guard born inAustin, Texas and from Austin'sUniversity of Texas, Arnette competed at the1960 Summer Olympics, where he won a gold medal with theUnited States men's national basketball team.[3][4]From 1963 to 1965, he played in theNational Basketball Association as a member of theCincinnati Royals,[5] averaging 3.7points per game.[1] In 2010, the1960 United States men's Olympic basketball team on which Arnette played was collectively inducted into theNaismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.[6]

While playing basketball Arnette attended a dental school atBaylor College of Dentistry. He later obtained licenses indentistry andpharmacy, but practicedorthodontics in Austin, Texas.[6][7]
