Javed Ali is an Indian playback singer who predominantly sings inHindi. He has also sung in various Indian languages includingBengali,Kannada,Malayalam,Gujarati,Marathi,Odia,Tamil,Telugu andUrdu.
Javed Ali was born as Javed Hussain in Panchkuian Road, Delhi.[1][2] He studied in Ramjas School 4,Paharganj.[3] Javed Ali started singing at a very early age with his father Ustad Hamid Hussain, a popularqawwali singer. Ghazal singerGhulam Ali heard Ali's voice and felt that he could become a great singer in future.[citation needed] Ghulam Ali not only guided Javed, but also gave him chance to sing in his live concerts. As a tribute and honour to hisguru Ghulam Ali, Javed changed his name from Javed Hussain to Javed Ali.[2]

He judged reality shows likeSa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2011 onZee TV, Great Music Gurukul 2015 onColors Bangla,Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2017 on Zee TV andIndian Idol Season 10 in 2018 onSony Entertainment Television. Javed Ali also hosted Zee TV's singing reality showSa Re Ga Ma Pa 2012. He was one of the three judges onSuper star singer (in 2022 and 2023).[4][5][6][7][8][3][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
He has also sung many devotional songs[18][19] with popular singers like Debashish, Preeti, Pinky, Charanjeet Singh Sondhi,Soham Chakraborty, Kalpana, Priya Bhattacharya etc. In 2018 he sang forManju Warrier-starrerMalayalam filmAami. The song 'Chand Hoga' was written byGulzar and music byTaufiq Qureshi. The film is a biopic on Indian English writerKamala Das.
Recently Javed Ali worked on his single's Music Video 'Rangreziya'. He sang as well as composed the song for this Video.[20]
Javed Ali performs live with his band all over the world. In July–August 2016, Javed Ali performed in 9 cities of the United States of America. He also regularly performs in maestroA.R Rahman's worldwide live concert tours.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39] On 15 August 2016 Javed Ali performed in theHeadquarters of the United Nations with A.R Rahman to celebrate India's 70th Independence Day.[40]
Along with playback singing & live performing, Javed Ali is associated with various social works. He performs live for various social causes to raise funds.[citation needed]
In 2016 Javed Ali performed in Mumbai at a fundraiser event for war widows.[41][42]
He performed for a fund raiser for an old age home at Satpala,Virar in Palghar,Maharashtra on 10 November 2018.[citation needed]
