National Route 395 (国道395号,Kokudō Kokudō Sanbyakukyūjūgo-gō) is a Japanesenational highway connecting the cities ofKuji andNinohe. The 58.0-kilometer-long (36.0 mi) highway begins at Kuji Interchange where it meetsNational Route 45, theSanriku-kita Jūkan Road, and theHachinohe-Kuji Expressway in Kuji. It travels northwest across the northeastern corner of Iwate Prefecture to Ninohe where it ends at an intersection withNational Route 4.

History

What would become National Route 395 was originally established as the Kuji–Fukuoka Route, a majorprefectural road, in 1954 by theMinistry of Construction, a predecessor to theMinistry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.[2] The Kuji–Fukuoka Route was upgraded to National Route 395 on 1 April 1982.[3]
