Janus Henderson is a British-American[3] globalasset management group headquartered in theCity of London,United Kingdom. It offers a range of financial products to individuals, intermediary advisors, and institutional investors globally under the trade name Janus Henderson Investors.[4]

The group's holding company,Janus Henderson Group plc, is incorporated inJersey and is dual-listed on theNew York Stock Exchange and formerly theAustralian Securities Exchange (where it was a component of theS&P/ASX 100 index).[5]

History

Janus Henderson was formed from the all stock merger ofJanus Capital Group andHenderson Group which completed in May 2017. At the time of the merger, the combined group had assets under management of US$331 billion.[6]

In November 2019, the company was fined £1.9 million by theFinancial Conduct Authority for charging clients for active management services when active management had actually been discontinued.[7]

The company disposed of its struggling subsidiary dealing in quantitative equities, Intech, in spring 2022.[8]

In January 2023, the Financial Conduct Authority initiated criminal proceedings against five people including a former analyst at the company for conspiracy to commit insider dealing and money laundering,[9][10] and, in March 2023, the company was fined €1.7 million by theNetherlands Authority for the Financial Markets for failure to provide notification of its shareholding of 3.02% inRenewi on a timely basis.[11]

The company entered into a joint venture with Privacore Capital, to provide alternative assets for private wealth clients, in June 2023.[12]

In May 2024, the company acquired Tabula Investment Management which specialises in Europeanexchange-traded funds,[13] and in August 2024, it acquired the majority stake in Victory Park Capital Advisors.[14]

In October 2025,Trian Partners andGeneral Catalyst made a non-binding offer to acquire Janus Henderson in a deal valuing the company at $7.2 billion. The company's board said it would appoint a special committee of directors not affiliated with Trian or General Catalyst to consider the proposal.[2][15]

Operations

The company managesmutual funds andETFs in four asset classes:Equities,Fixed Income,Multi-Asset andAlternatives.[16] According to its own data, in spring 2023, the company had more than 2,000 employees worldwide and had 24 offices worldwide.[4]
