Janne Ferm (born 29 August 1980) is aFinnishrallyco-driver. He is currently teamed withEsapekka Lappi and is competing forHyundai Shell Mobis WRT in theWorld Rally Championship.[1]
Janne Ferm began hisrally career in 2007,co-driving for several drivers. In 2010, he firmed the partnership withEsapekka Lappi. In the2011 Rally Finland, he made hisWRC debut, where the crew drove in aCitroën C2 R2 Max.[1]
In2013, the Finnish crew was signed byŠkoda Motorsport and competed selected events inWRC-2 in aŠkoda Fabia S2000.[2]
In2016, the crew won theWRC-2 championship with theŠkoda Fabia R5 after winning inFinland,Germany,Wales andAustralia.[3]
Lappi and Ferm were signed byToyota Gazoo Racing to drive aToyota Yaris WRC in the2017 World Rally Championship.[4] On their second event with the team, the2017 Rally Italia Sardegna, the crew won their first ever stage in theWRC, along with five more stage wins. They eventually finished fourth overall.[5] In just their fourthWorld Rally Car start, at their home event of2017 Rally Finland, the crew took their first WRC victory.[6]
In October 2018,Toyota announced that both Lappi and Ferm would leave the team at the end of the 2018 championship.[7] They joinedCitroën for the2019 season, partnering with multiple championSébastien Ogier.[8]Heading into the2020 World Rally Championship season with the departure ofCitroën World Rally Team from the top flight of the WRC Lappi and Ferm found themselves moving again, this time toM-Sport World Rally Team. He only lasted at Ford until the end of the2021 World Rally Championship season, as in 2022 Janne and Lappi partnered at Toyota again. For 2023 to present Janne has been a member ofHyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team.
