Jankil (Arabic:جنكيل, also transliteratedJinkil), officially calledQadisiyya, is a village in northwesternSyria, administratively part of theal-Haffah District, located northeast ofLatakia. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics, Jankil had a population of 1,229 in the 2004 census.[1] Its inhabitants areSunni Muslims.[2]
On 7 September 2012, Jankil and the neighboring villageBabna were subjected to tank shelling and machine gun fire by government troops.[3]
