Jan Sýkora (born 29 December 1993) is aCzech former professionalfootballer who last played as amidfielder forCzech First League clubSigma Olomouc.[1]

Club career

Sýkora began his professional career atSparta Prague, but failed to make a league appearance for their first team. He also spent time on loan atZbrojovka Brno before transferring toSlovan Liberec in 2015.[citation needed]

On 15 September 2016, Sýkora scored the fastest ever goal ofUEFA Europa League, finding the net after just 10.69 seconds inLiberec's group stage match againstQarabağ FK.[2][3] In total, he made 34 league appearances for Liberec, scoring one goal.[citation needed]

Slavia Prague and loan to Slovan Liberec

After a long battle for his signature betweenSlavia Prague andViktoria Plzeň, the two frontrunners for theleague title at the time, Sýkora signed for the former in January 2017.[4] On 22 November 2018, Sýkora signed a new contract with Slavia until 2022.[5] In February 2019, he returned toSlovan Liberec on loan until the end of the season.[6]

Lech Poznań

On 24 August 2020, Sýkora signed a four-year contract with PolishEkstraklasa football clubLech Poznań.[7] He debuted six days later during league match againstWisła Płock.[8][9]

Viktoria Plzeň

On 6 July 2022, Sýkora signed a three-year contract with CzechFirst League sideViktoria Plzeň.[10]

Sigma Olomouc

On 4 January 2025, Sýkora signed a contact withSigma Olomouc until the end of the season with two-year option.[11]

International career

In August 2016, Sýkora got his first call-up to theCzech Republic national football team for afriendly match againstArmenia and2018 FIFA World Cup qualification match againstNorthern Ireland.[12] He debuted against the former opponent on 31 August.[13] In November 2017, Sýkora scored his first international goal in a 2–1 victory againstIceland.[14]
