Paige Wooding (born 23 April 1995), better known by herring nameJamie Hayter, is an Englishprofessional wrestler. She is signed toAEW, where she is a one-timeAEW Women's World Champion.

Hayter has also wrestled internationally with stints in England'sRevPro, where she became a two-timeRevPro British Women's Champion, and Japan'sStardom, where she became a one-timeSWA World Champion and a one-timeGoddesses of Stardom Champion (alongsideBea Priestley).

Early life

Paige Wooding[1] was born inEastleigh on 23 April 1995.[2] She grew up in nearbySouthampton.[1][3]

Professional wrestling career

Early career (2015–2019)

Wooding made her debut on 2 May 2015, adopting thering nameJamie Hayter and losing toJinny Couture. In 2017, she wrestled for Pro Wrestling Chaos in the tournament to crown the first Maiden of Chaos Champion; after defeating Dahlia Black in the quarterfinals, she was eliminated byMartina in the final.[4] On 4 October 2018, Hayter defeat Ayesha Raymond to win the WWW Women's Championship.[5]

In November 2018, Hayter competed in Pro Wrestling Eve's annual tournament event named "She-1", a round robin block tournament which is styled after New Japan Pro Wrestling's G1 tournament. Hayter became the "Ace of Eve" after defeatingToni Storm andKris Wolf in the finals.[citation needed]

On the 15 May 2019 episode ofNXT UK, Hayter made her first appearance forWWE as anenhancement talent, losing toPiper Niven in asquash match.[6][7]

Revolution Pro Wrestling (2015–2021)

In June 2015, Hayter debuted atRevolution Pro Wrestling in theRevPro Contenders 11 event defeatingZoe Lucas. In mid-2018, Hayter defeated Jinny to win theRevPro British Women's Championship for the first time in her career.[8] On 28 July, Hayter made her first successful defense of the British Women's Championship against Zoe Lucas. On 5 August, Hayter made her second successful defense of title against Bobbi Tyler. On 18 November, Hayter made her third successful defense of title againstKimber Lee. She lost the title to Zoe Lucas in her fourth defense on 2 December.[9] She would regain the title on 7 February 2021, defeating Gisele Shaw. Revpro would vacated the title on 27 June 2021 when Hayter accepted an offer from WWE for a try-out the same date RevPro hosted a show.[10]

World Wonder Ring Stardom (2018–2020)

In August 2018, Hayter made herStardom debut by entering the 20185 Star Grand Prix. Hayter scored a total of five points, which was not enough to advance to the finals.[11] In early 2019, Hayter joined the stable Oedo Tai run byKagetsu. In January 2020, Hayter andBea Priestley became the first foreign team to win theGoddesses of Stardom Championship, and Hayter would seven days later capture her first world title, defeatingUtami Hayashishita for theSWA World Championship. However, she vacated the title in September 2020 since she was unable to work in Japan due toCOVID-19 restrictions.

All Elite Wrestling (2019–present)

Sporadic appearances (2019–2021)

On 23 October episode ofAEW Dynamite, Hayter made her debut forAll Elite Wrestling (AEW), losing toBritt Baker. During an interview backstage, Hayter was attacked byBrandi Rhodes.[12] On 6 November, Hayter picked up her first win teaming withEmi Sakura taking onRiho andShanna.[5] Hayter was set to work more with AEW whilst wrestling in Japan; however, because of theCOVID-19 pandemic that situation halted plans.[8]

Signing and championship pursuits (2021–2023)

Hayter returned to AEW as signed talent on 13 August 2021, during the debut episode ofAEW Rampage, assistingBritt Baker in a post-match brawl againstRed Velvet andKris Statlander.[13] Shortly after, it was announced that she had signed with AEW.[14] She then aligned with Baker and her associateRebel.[15] On 3 November episode ofDynamite, Hayter competed in theTBS Championship Tournament where Hayter defeatedAnna Jay in the first round.[16] OnThanksgiving Evespecial episode ofDynamite, Hayter lost toThunder Rosa in the quarterfinals of the tournament.[17] In 2022, Hayter competed in theOwen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament facingSkye Blue in a qualifying match onRampage which Hayter won.[18] On 11 May episode ofDynamite, Hayter was defeated byToni Storm in the quarterfinals of the tournament.[19] AtBattle of the Belts III, Hayter challengedAEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa for the title in a losing effort,[20] and she suffered a broken nose during the match.[21] AtAll Out, Hayter, Baker,Hikaru Shida and Storm competed against each other to become the interim AEW Women's World Champion, which Hayter lost.[22]

AtFull Gear, Hayter defeated Storm to become interim AEW Women's World Champion.[23] On the following episode ofDynamite, Rosa relinquished the lineal title due to injury making Hayter the official and undisputed AEW Women's World Champion.[24] Hayter's first successful title defense was against Shida in themain event ofDynamite special episodeHoliday Bash.[25] The match received positive reception from AEW backstage.[26]

In 2023, AtRevolution, Hayter defeatedRuby Soho andSaraya in athree-way match to retain her title. After the match, Soho attacked Hayter and joined forces with Saraya and Toni Storm.[27] During this time, Hayter and Baker began feuding with Storm, Soho, and Saraya who were known as the Outcasts.[28] On 3 May episode of Dynamite, Hikaru Shida helped Baker and Hayter to even the odds against the Outcasts.[29] AtDouble or Nothing, Hayter lost the title to Storm, ending her reign at 190 days.[30] Prior to that match, Hayter suffered an undisclosed injury and would be out indefinitely.[31] In a September 2024 interview withRenee Paquette, Hayter revealed that she had suffered twoherniated discs in her back and nearly retired from professional wrestling.[32]

Return from injury (2024–present)

Following a hiatus that lasted over a year, Hayter made her return to AEW in August 2024 atAll In, where she confronted Saraya.[32] On the following episode ofDynamite, Hayter made her in-ring return, defeatingHarley Cameron.[32] In September 2024 atGrand Slam, Hayter defeated Saraya, finally ending her feud with the Outcasts.[33] On 13 November episode ofDynamite, Hayter's promo was interrupted by a vignette ofJulia Hart, teasing a feud between the two.[citation needed] On 14 December at theCollision edition ofWinter is Coming, Hayter was defeated byWillow Nightingale in theInternational Women's Cup Qualifier. After the match, she was attacked by Hart.[34] On 1 January 2025 atFight for the Fallen, Hayter was defeated by Hart.[citation needed] On 22 January episode ofDynamite, Hayter defeated Hart in a rematch.[35]

On 29 March episode ofCollision, Hayter announced her entry into the women's bracket of theOwen Hart Cup, a tournament where the winner will receive anAEW Women's World Championship match atAll In.[36] In the quarterfinal round, Hayter defeatedBillie Starkz on 12 April episode ofCollision.[37] On 23 April edition ofDynamite, Hayter defeatedKris Statlander to advance to the final round of the tournament on 25 May atDouble or Nothing, where she facedMercedes Moné and lost.[38] On 28 May episode ofDynamite, Hayter was attacked by a debutingThekla.[39] AtAll Out on 20 September, Hayter competed in a four-way match for the AEW Women's World Championship, but failed to win.[40] On October 18 atWrestleDream, Hayter defeated Thekla.[41] On November 12 atBlood & Guts, Hayter competed in the first ever women'sBlood and Guts match, but her team was defeated.[42]

Personal life

Wooding has been diagnosed withADHD and has discussed how professional wrestling helped her deal with it.[43] She has citedSaraya as one of her inspirations.[3]
