James Smythe (born 1980) is a British science fictionnovelist[1] known for The Anomaly Quartet, and the Australia series for young adults. James lives in London and teaches creative writing.

Smythe's novelThe Machine was nominated forThe Kitschies Red Tentacle Award in 2013,[2] andThe Testimony was named Wales Fiction Book of the Year in 2013.[3]The Machine was a finalist for theArthur C. Clarke Award in 2014, andWay Down Dark was also a finalist for the same award in 2016.[4]
