James McCoy Jones is an African-American social psychologist andcultural diversity scholar. He is Trustees' Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Black American Studies and Director of the Center for the Study of Diversity at theUniversity of Delaware. He is a past president of both theSociety of Experimental Social Psychology and theSociety for the Psychological Study of Social Issues. He previously taught atHarvard University andHoward University before joining the University of Delaware.[1] In 2011, he received theOutstanding Lifetime Contributions to Psychology Award from theAmerican Psychological Association.[2] He retired from the University of Delaware in 2018, and gave a retirement lecture on diversity on April 16 of that year.[3]
