James Bannatyne (born 30 June 1975) is a former New Zealand association footballgoalkeeper. He last played forTeam Wellington in theNew Zealand Football Championship. He representedNew Zealand at international level,[1] generally as backup toGlen Moss andMark Paston.
He has also played for theFootball Kingz in the now-defunct AustralianNational Soccer League.[2]
Bannatyne made his fullAll Whites debut in a 2–0 win overCook Islands on 18 June 2001.[3] He was included in the New Zealand squad for the2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, along with fellow non-professionalsAaron Scott andAndrew Barron.[4][5]
On 10 May 2010, Bannatyne was named in New Zealand's final 23-man squad to compete at the2010 FIFA World Cup.[6] He retired from international football after returning from the World Cup.[7]
His brother,Stu Bannatyne, is a round-the-world sailor.
