Jalcomulco is amunicipality in theMexican state ofVeracruz, founded in 1825.
The municipality is located in the central zone of the state, about 29 km (18 mi) fromXalapa, the state capital and 359 km (223 mi), fromMexico City. It has a land area of 72.4 km2.
The municipality of Jalcomulco is bounded to the north byEmiliano Zapata, to the east byApazapan, to the south and south-west byTlaltetela, and to the north-west byCoatepec.[2]

As 2020, the municipality had a population of 5,054 inhabitants in just 4 localities.[1] The localities are Jalcomulco (3,150 hab.), Santa María Tatetla (1,707 hab.), Tacotalpan (153 hab.) and Rivera del Río (44 hab.).[1]
Theregion principally producesmaize,coffee,sugarcane, andmango. It also producescattle andpoultry.
Since the early 1990secotourism has been an important part of the economy of the region, with more than a dozenhotels and professional dealers ofadventure travel.
In May, a celebration takes place in Jalcomulco to honorSan Juan Bautista, thePatron saint of the town.

The Río de los Pescados section of theRio Antigua is awhitewater river that flows through the town of Jalcomulco and is commerciallyrafted.[citation needed]
