Jack Hovater (August 31, 1897 – April 9, 1965) was an Americancollege football player and high school football coach.[1][2] He was also once president of theAlabama State League.[3] Hovater was a prominentrunning back andtackle for theAlabama Crimson Tide; twice selectedAll-Southern[4] andcaptain of the1917 team. He played with two other Hovater brothers on the1916 team. He andIke Boone were ends on the 1919 team.[5]

Hovater later coach football and taught at Dothan High School inDothan, Alabama. He died on April 9, 1965, at his home in Dothan.[6]
