Jack Bishop is an American celebrity chef and food author whose specialty isItalian cuisine andvegetarian cooking.[1] He is the chief creative officer[2] ofAmerica's Test Kitchen onPBS.
Bishop studied cooking inFlorence, Italy.[3] He graduated from Mountain Lakes High School, New Jersey and considersMountain Lakes his hometown.[4][5] His mother first taught him to cook at home when he was 12 years old, as she worked late hours and his father was not a very good cook.[5] He lives inSag Harbor, New York, with his food-writer wife Lauren Chattman and their two daughters.[6] Bishop is a decade-long member of his local community farm.[7]
In 1988, Jack Bishop started working atCook's Magazine and collaborated on the launch ofCook's Illustrated in 1993. During his tenure withCook's, he established tasting conventions later used atAmerica's Test Kitchen. Bishop editedThe Best Recipe (1999), co-directedCook's Country magazine in 2005, and became a cast member ofAmerica’s Test Kitchen andCook’s Country onPBS, hosting the Testing Lab segments and serving as an executive producer. Jack also regularly appears onToday(NBC).A Year in a Vegetarian Kitchen was nominated for aJames Beard Foundation Award (Vegetarian) in 2005.[8]
