Jack Bannon is an English actor, known for his roles as Sam Thursday on theITV drama seriesEndeavour (from 2013) and asAlfred Pennyworth on theEpix crime drama seriesPennyworth (2019–2022).

Early life and education

Jack Bannon grew up inNorwich.[1]

He completed high school atNotre Dame High School before attending the arts course at theTheatre Royal.[1]

Career

In 2014 Bannon played Christopher Morcom, the best friend ofAlan Turing (played byBenedict Cumberbatch), in the feature filmThe Imitation Game.[1][2] In the same year, he featured in the American-British war filmFury.[1]

He became widely known after he took the role of Sam Thursday on theITV drama seriesEndeavour in 2013.[1] He has also featured in the TV seriesRipper Street (2012),The Loch (2017), andClique (2017).[2]

Bannon playsAlfred Pennyworth on theEpix crime drama seriesPennyworth (2019–2022).[2][1]

He plays Lukas, the new partner toLena Olin's Detective Hulda Hermannsdóttir, in theNordic Noir series set in Iceland,The Darkness.[3] The series was released in Iceland in September 2024 before getting worldwide release.[4] Bannon has also been announced byPrime Video as playing an as-yet-undisclosed role in its 2026Tomb Raider television streaming series, alongsideSophie Turner as lead characterLara Croft.[5]
