JP Larocque is a Canadian screenwriter, producer, and journalist. They are best known for their work on the television seriesSort Of, for which they were nominated for both aPeabody Award and Best Writing in a Comedy Series at the11th Canadian Screen Awards in 2023.[1][2]

Larocque is creator and executive producer of the web seriesGay Nerds, which ran from 2012 to 2015 and was distributed by OutTV,[3] and has worked onSkyMed,North of North,How to Fail as a Popstar,Small Achievable Goals,Coroner,Jann,Another Life,Slasher,Diggstown andAllegiance.The Globe and Mail listed them among “the 25 most influential people in Canadian television.”[4]

In 2024, they were nominated for a Canadian Screen Award as a co-executive producer of theFamily Channel seriesHome Sweet Rome,[5] and in 2025 they were nominated for both a Canadian Screen Award and aWGC Screenwriting Award for their work on the seriesPopularity Papers (alongside showrunner Vivian Lin).[6][7]

In 2022, they wrote and produced aHeritage Minute on pioneering transgender American soul and rhythm and blues singerJackie Shane,[8] and developed theMurdoch Mysteries spin-off seriesMacy Murdoch forCBC Gem with Jessica Meya.[9]

In 2014, they were a regular panelist on the MTV Canada reality television series1 Girl 5 Gays.[10]
